If you prefer low-waisted pants, then this is the line for you. Known for the extraordinary fit of his long-legged, low-slung pants, Alvin Valley is a major player on the New York fashion scene. Born in New York but raised in Spain, Valley opened his first boutique in Coconut Grove, Florida in 1995. In 2000, Valley headed to New York City to develop his first full collection. His clothing can now be found in more than 250 stores nationwide.
With each new season, Valley proves he has the ability to grow and experiment with new forms, shapes and cuts. “The Lord of the Pants, as he has been knick-named, is also becoming known as an amazing gown and evening wear designer. He recently received rave reviews from other fashion critics, for his Fall 2006 collection.
In the beginning of 2006, Jacques Moret, the active wear firm, bought a 50 percent stake in Valley’s company from Richard Rosenthal, the designer’s business partner. “We were after this for a while,” said Valley. “Now everything will be much clearer and we’ll have a better direction.” Among his plans are to sell more stores in the U.S. and open accounts in Europe. “The business is expanding and they’ll take us to the next level,” said Valley. Expect to see a lot more of Alvin Valley.
