lululemon athletica has opened in Lincoln Park. You know, where the Banana Republic used to be (I swear a mere month ago)? Now, I for one think the world can do with one less Banana Republic and boy, do I like what has replaced it!
If you’re like me, finding fashionable athletic clothing is next to impossible in Chicago. My old standbys, Target and TJ Maxx have been letting me down. Unless you need unsupportive yoga clothing, high impact and feminine athletic wear has practically become an oxymoron. Until now!
lululemon athletica, was founded in 1998 in Kitsilano, Vancouver. Their yoga and athletic design is created from the feedback athletes and customers who walk the walk. The original lululemon store was a design room surrounded by a retail store. Today, the lululemon design and production team use interactive feedback from lululemon customers to adjust fit, detect new athletic trends and discuss desired fabrics.
lululemon recognizes that women have been embracing outdoor sports and exercise in unprecedented numbers since the 1990s. The company sees a direct correlation between education, athletics and a higher immune system and understands the need for versatile, functional and better fitting feminine technical clothing. Now, I find their ‘manifesto’ a little preachy, but still adore the styles and the large selection. “lululemon athletica”
