We are not really sure what to make of this. Apparently, Intuition.com has taken a store we love to a new level….couture. I have never been crazy about the red and white bullseye. Let’s face it, the beauty of target is getting something cool for less, but we don’t want it to scream…BULLSEYE! The clothes, the shoes, the bags… they’re stylish, adequate quality and totally affordable. Yet, Target is taking it to the next level with a line they’ve developed called Targét Couture. The trademark bullseye logo has gone glam. The line is not going to be sold at Target stores, however. It’s available exclusively at Intuition, the Los Angeles based retail store, and also online at “Targèt Couture.”
The biggest problem (aside that everything revolves around a target symbol that is red and white) is that these interpretations are higher priced knock-offs than what is in the stores already. For $17.99 I can justify a Luella Bartley top, but a knock-off Gucci bag for $100? No thanks! I might take this seriously if say Comme de Garcons, Westwood, Miyake, or Chloe were doing the interpreting, but not Jaye Hersh, Lizzie Scheck or Raw 7. A cashmere hoodie for $330? That is just insane.
The exceptions I find are the Swarovski crystal card case and compact which are pretty cute and campy. The line, however, consists of mostly obvious Chloe, Louis Vuitton and Gucci knockoffs. It would seem that Target is getting a little too full of itself and that is never good. Let’s see if Paris Hilton is spotted in this garb, she’s already a bullseye.
