You have to be living under a rock if you have not heard that “The Devil Wears Prada opens this weekend.
I read Lauren Weisberger’s book three years ago. If I had not it to a friend, never to see it again, I would be re-reading the book before seeing the movie. Frankly, many books later, I don’t remember all of the details. What I do remember is that it was a quick and entertaining read. Oh and that as bad as some of my bosses have ever been…Miranda Priestly scared the be Jesus out of me.
Andrea Sachs, a small-town girl fresh out of college, lands the job “a million girls would die for.” Hired as the assistant to Miranda Priestly, the high-profile, fabulously successful editor of Runway magazine, Andrea finds herself in an office that shouts Prada! Armani! Versace! at every turn, a world populated by impossibly thin, heart-wrenchingly stylish women and beautiful men clad in fine-ribbed turtlenecks and tight leather pants that show off their lifelong dedication to the gym. With breathtaking ease, Miranda is the boss from hell.
Thrilled are we that the movie is getting good reviews. I could not imagine a better person to play Miranda than Meryl Streep. However, for the life of me, I just can’t picture Anne Hathaway as Andrea. That was not who I pictured while reading the book (that I remember).
Second City Style is taking the staff to the movie this weekend and we will have a review for you next week. So get out and see this movie. Every fashionista will be going!
