Now I understand why Toni Maticevski is one of the most talked about names in Australian fashion. This couture designer’s signature manipulation of traditional fashion silhouettes and use of beautiful materials is strikingly different from conventional couture.
“It’s too easy to acquire ideas by opening up Art books or fashion magazines. If you access your designs from the point of view of emotion, from the limitations you face, you can change what you know and what others see,” said the designer.
Maticevski worked with Donna Karan in 1999, but left for Paris where he worked at Cerutti for two seasons. At this time Maticevski also found a mentor in ‘Absinthe’ boutique owner, Marthe Desmoulin and now French couture permeates with every design.
Every Maticevski season is different. His Spring/Summer ’07 collection is very beige yet, very stunning and complicated. The movement and form of this gorgeous collection makes it colorful indeed.See the Top Ten Summer 2016 Trends for Women Over 40
