Fashion Week Spring ’07. What Does a Disco Queen Wear After She Leaves Studio 54? Swingy Frocks & Military Chic by Tibi. Second City Style Fashion Blog

September 12, 2006 • New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer '07

When you’re known for bright, bold prints, it’s a bright, bold move to
open with…khaki?!  However, designer Amy Smilovic had it under control
with an impossibly chic wide legged pant paired with a tucked out,
belted tunic. Military style buttondowns worn over high-waisted long
trousers looked woman-in-control sexy, while her inner girlie-girl came
out to play in a gorgeous chiffon dress in a splashy knee-length
green/yellow & white print with a full sleeve and defined waist.
Stylish blouses & buttondowns were tucked into a poufy,
gathered-waist walking shorts & high-waisted, cuffed shorts. The
swingy strapless smocked trapeze frock in an “Eyptian” embroidery was
also swinging seventies fab.

Color Palette:
khaki, navy, indigo, hite, white/green/yellow print, mixed stripe &
flower print, chartreuse, blue & white China pattern-like print,
drapey gold metallic, white polka dots on a black ground

Textures & Details:
balloon sleeves; swingy dresses, chunky stacked wood ankle strap
platform shoes, somber khaki & navy combinations; splashy oversized
prints, eyelet, stiff “pinafore” cap sleeves

Key looks: oversized print dresses, denim wide trouser with indigo tone-on-tone buttondown, black & white polka dot coat.
