Fashion Week Spring ’07. Y & Kei. Pour Some Sugar on Me. Second City Style Fashion Blog

September 14, 2006 • New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer '07

Summary: It just so happens I love sugar, so I adored the collection by husband and wife team, Hanii Yoon and Gene Kang. It has been said that Y & Kei fuse Asian philosophy with a European edge and sexiness and that could not have been truer of this spring collection. They featured many white-on-white dresses with bows, ruffles, embroidery and appliques. Full on assault glamor!

Color Palette:  Pure white, ecru, taupe, shiny beige, black, dove grey, blue-grey and silver.

Silhouettes: Voluminous ruffled blouses and dresses flapper style tiered cocktail dresses, drain-pipe ankle length pants with boxy cropped jackets, silk faille belted coat dresses, trapeze dresses, high-waisted bubble skirts, drop waist ruffle dresses, sheer blouses.

A belt tied around the waist with the buckle hanging, platform peep and closed toe ankle wrap heels.

Not Wearable:
Boxy, frilly flapper jackets…too much volume to carry off. A trapeze jacket paired with a full pleated skirt is flattering on pretty much everybody.
