Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer ’07. Burberry Prorsum Rocks the Runway With Bailey at the Helm. Second City Style Fashion Blog

September 26, 2006 • Fashion

Summary: Burberry Prorsum’s Christopher Bailey used Cecil Beaton’s 60’s-era portraits of the upper-crust and rock
stars for inspiration. “The way Beaton captured them all had something light
about it,” Bailey said backstage before the show. His goal? To match the artistry of light that Beaton mastered.  The result was a great show.

Color Palette: Mostly muted with some metallics…pale beige, khaki, white, silver, gold, brown leather, grey (light & charcoal), moss, lavender & black.

Texture & Detail: puffed three-quarter sleeves on jackets and shifts, brocades of  silk and aluminum, beige mixed with metallics, swing jackets, a babydoll dress with a drop-waist, shirt-dresses, belled skirts, pant suits with slouchy pants, beading, sequins and an evening dress with a knee-length skirt of feathers.

Key Looks: First there was a brown leather jacket with drop, puffed sleeves I would give my eye teeth for. The handbags massive totes carried down the runway are going to be all the rage. They were huge with trench buckles in both leather and python. Booties were shown with most ensembles and silver strappy platform sandals were shown with evening.
