Second City Style’s new Paris Correspondant, Gabbie Perez is a Chicago transport living in Paris. Thankfully she is as obsessed with fashion as we are and owns a digital camera. What better a city than Paris to learn about new trends?
Here are my observations on the Chanel show:
I didn’t actually need to go inside because the real show
was viewed from the press line! Upon arrival, I dove into a sea of black Chanel suits.
Nothing new— necks and earlobes adorned with Chanel costume jewelry, feet
dressed in Chanel shoes from the past Fall and Spring collections, nails
polished with Vamp (or “Rouge-Noir” to the native Parisiennes), long leggings
with heels and boots for the younger crowd. Conservative yet sophisticated,
sober yet chic. Black was the color to be seen in.
The show was quick—electric jazz tunes could be heard for
only 20 minutes while the models were on the runway.
Brushes with fame… I stood next to Kanye West (he uses a
Motorola Slvr cellphone!) and Lenny Kravitz arrived with Lisa Bonet 15 minutes
after the show started (needless to say, they did not see much of Karl’s new
collection). They quickly fled the scene at the Grand Palais together after
the show was finished.
