As self-professed shoe addict, or to be more accurate, "bootaholic", each year I become obsessed with a pair that I see in an ad. This year it’s Kate Moss for Dior, in a black shirt, what appears to be grey (gulp) stonewashed jeans, wearing the most lush, plush and over the top biker boots. The look is unnervingly reminiscent of a decade I may want to forget, and yet she looks tres chic.
So I ask you, Mr. Galliano, would you be understanding if I simply just go out and purchase a pair of Frye boots instead? No, they won’t be over the knee, the shaft will not be buttery soft, and they will lack all of the detail and edginess yours have, but for $220 Zappos I could, in some sort of understated way, emulate your $1400 pair. I truly wish, but never could look like Kate anyway.
Apparently I am not the only one with this boot obsession. Out on the street a bus billboard for Aldo just passed me by with the same style boot pasted to the side. Hmmm, so I could essentially now achieve the look for $139. Aldo Funny how biker boots became couture in the first place.
