Viktor & Rolf began their career in 1993. Through exhibitions, haute couture
shows, and since 2000, women’s ready-to-wear, they have received
international acclaim as one of fashion’s most innovative labels. Their
brand now includes a men’s line, scarves, underwear, glasses and shoes
as well as perfume. The duo’s renowned collections comprising
sharp tailoring and clever artistry sell in over 20 countries
‘If haute couture is the most sublime form of fashion, H&M is
fashion at its most democratic. Our roots are based in couture. It’s
the heart and soul of our work. But we also love to play with
opposites: transformation is a key element of our signature style. For
us, fashion is an antidote to reality. It’s a great opportunity to
communicate our vision with such a large audience of H&M devotee,’
say the designers Viktor & Rolf.
A Hollywood ‘mock’ wedding launch party took place last Friday night replete with bells, an orchestra,
white roses, and white-gloved waiters was as cinematic as any movie. Celebrities included Chloë
Sevigny, Mia Maestro, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Carmen Electra,
Kanye West, Lisa Edelstein, Liz Goldwyn, and Christina Milian, many of
whom sported an early preview of the Viktor & Rolf for H&M line
in the form of white heart shirts.
a staged receiving line, where guests had their photos taken with the
designers and model Raquel Zimmermann (in a white wedding gown), H&M staged a runway show of the
Dutch duo’s collection like a wedding, with a nine piece orchestra
(playing both Beethoven and Beyoncé), a four-tier wedding cake, an
ocean of champagne, bowers of white flowers, and a white silk pleated
tent with giant chandeliers, and for once the clothes actually stood
out more than the celebrities. Guests
left the party with a silver frame featuring a photo of Viktor, Rolf,
and Raquel—in their wedding gear.
