Peter Som Fall ’06 Collection
American designer, Peter Som’s
clean lines and refined elegance are no surprise once you learn he is the son of architects. Som grew up in San
Francisco, studied Art History and Art at Connecticut College and went on to the Parsons School of Design. Som then worked for Bill Blass, Michael Kors, and Calvin Klein.
Som’s first women’s wear collection launched in 1999. Since then,
his clean, easy yet feminine clothes have been winning praise
from customers, buyers and critics alike. In a 2003 article entitled “This
American Moment,” Cathy Horyn of the New York Times identified Peter as
“one of the best young designers working today.” The fashion industry has repeatedly taken notice of Peter Som’s talents
with nods from the CFDA in ’97 as a rising young talent recipient of
the Scholarship Competition, the Parsons Gold Thimble awards, and two
CFDA nominations for Emerging Talent.
Celebrity clientele includes: Natalie Portman, Emmy Rossum, Diane Kruger, Mandy Moore and Amanda Peet.
