"I would go out tonight, but I haven’t got a stitch to wear." – The Smiths

Yes, the holiday season is upon us all. Total stress, total panic
and total forced elation. One of the most stressful parts of the
holidays isn’t so much the parties themselves, but what to wear!
Doesn’t it seem like you never own anything appropriate in your closet
to wear to the many different events you’ll be attending? First,
consult your current wardrobe. Chances are you have a couple outfits
hiding in there that could easily be thrown together to pack a seasonal
punch. Yes, your little black dress is always a safe bet, why not try
something a little different this year? Let’s break it down.

The Office Party

Just as this is not the time to wear a lamp-shade on your head, it
is also not the time to be displaying your cleavage. Do not be fooled,
this is not a party with your friends, it is still work. However, you
do not have to wear a suit. You should aim to look sophisticated and
festive. Err on the side of conservatism, but add a little flare. Try a
wrap dress in knit jersey (which is always flattering) or one this
year’s hot trends…the sweater dress. Wear the dress to the office with
a jacket and boots, toss some peep-toe’s, strappy sandal or sleek
pointed-toe pumps and a beautiful clutch into your bag for the quick
presto-chango at the office. If that little voice in your head is
telling you your outfit may be too sexy for the office party…it is.

Now you can show a little cleavage. However, do not dress too
seductively. Opt for a dress that makes you feel like a rock-star. Try
strapless, a mini or a party dress. As long as you look good and feel
confident, anything goes.
