Try as I might, I can’t escape spring. All of the print magazines are littered with rosebuds and metallic tent dresses galore. So I’m caving. Even though I still have possibly 4 months of winter left…spring has sprung. It’s time to face the music, there is no avoiding it.
Back on September 14 (right after Fashion Week concluded) I gave a rundown of the major trends we would be seeing for Spring ’07 (Emerging Trends Taking Some New Shapes This Spring). Harper’s Bazaar has compiled a list of 20 ‘must-haves’ in their February 2007 issue in "The Season Condensed."
Bazaar’s Spring Top 20 Pieces to Own For Spring:
1. A-line tunic
2. Sack dresses
Just remember that the operative word is ‘sack.’ Tread lightly.
4. A Duster Coat
5. A Belt
This has been a staple for a couple of seasons. Good news!
Duh! But supper skinny. Sorry all of you who thought skinny leg jeans wouldn’t make it through another season.
7. Pouchy jodhpur
Bazaar says to wear hem like jeans, I say if you have hips, don’t wear them period.
9. Ballerina wrap cardigan
10. Organza or chiffon top
With a bow or frilled panel.
11. Bright sheath top in duschesse satin
12. An anorak (?)
13. Hand-sewn silver sequins, crystal or mirrored trimming
Oh no! This is back…again?
14. Bell, trumpet or ruched sleeves
This my favorite as they are universally flattering.
16. Oversized slouchy bag
By this time you should already own at least one, right?
17. Chunky gold or silver cuffs and chains
18. Silk or jersey empire line dress
If you have a chest you may want to avoid this.
19. Jeweled flats
The updated ballet skimmer
20. Wooden or Lucite wedges
Hmmmm, Lucite you say? So in other words, plastic.
