Some of us go back to our roots by going on a road trip, wearing our grandmother’s favorite fragrance or maybe going into the same business as our mothers. However, if you’re Jill Stuart, it means adding to her $100 million empire and 20-odd Japanese handbag/accessories stores by high-tailing back to what the fashion industry looks at as it’s euro/dollar-fetching staple: handbags and small leather accessories. As Sophia Chabbott reports, Stuart is set to partner with Schifter & Partners (of Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lovers and the higher-priced L.A.M.B. line) to create bags that sell for about $200 and hopefully for Stuart generate almost $12 million in main floor sales.
