Beauty Treatment. I’ve Seen the Needle and the Damage Done. Second City Style Fashion & Beauty Blog

Call us crazy, Carol and I are going under the needle. The BOTOX and JUVEDERM needle that is. This Wednesday Dr. Carolyn Jacob, director of the Chicago Cosmetic Surgery and Dermatology Center will shave years off our faces…God willing. We will share the results (along with before and after photos) after.

Botox_before_after This isn’t me, just a before/after BOTOX example.

For me, it’s BOTOX. I’m a BOTOX virgin and frankly am terrified of needles. In case you didn’t know, BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows to form over time. That’s right, come Wednesday I am having botulism injected between my brows! Anybody that knows me personally, knows I have a very expressive face (you don’t want me for a poker partner). If my forehead doesn’t move I may have to start using my hands.

Apparently within days I (and you) should see should see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between my brows. The lines will continue to improve for up to a month, and results can last for up to 4 months.

For Carol, it’s Juvéderm (photo above). Juvéderm is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel that supposedly restores skin’s volume and smooths away facial wrinkles and folds, like "smile lines" or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of the nose to the corners of the mouth). The treatment with JUVEDERM will take about 15 minutes, but the results should be instant lasting up to 6 months or longer.

Wish us luck and stay tuned for the results!
