Summary: The show opened to Aussie Hip Hop by Hilltop Hoods. Very fitting for the designer from down under. Like a fine wine, this show had to sit with me awhile before I concluded I got it. The show began with gorgeous charcoal wool separates and dresses, somewhere mid collection, massive padded down ensembles in colors like lemon and salmon made their way down the runway dwarfing the models who wore them. You were left scratching your head. What just happened? As soon as four of these colossal garments were in front of you, like a blip they disappeared and more beautiful pieces made their procession. This time however, you began to notice the thin lines and silhouettes Maticevski’s garments embodied. Appreciating them all the more, like a finely crafted opera you found yourself drawn in.
My favorite pieces? The two-tone black bias cut evening dress with arrow cuts, a gray crepe abstract cocktail dress with a silk beaded knot belt and a charcoal silk chiffon bell sleeved evening dress with bell sleeves.
