When West Coast designer Jenni Kayne started showing in 2003 she had a celebrity client list a mile long. And there is a reason she still does. Appealing to the generation obsessed with the styling of Rachel Zoe and the Olsen’s (who were both front row attendees, MK in red lipstick to distinguish herself from her sister), her fall collection is filled with contemporary classics.
Color Palette: Black, white, grey, chocolate, checkered plaids and a triangluar geometric print. Shimmy textured silk, glam silk lepoard print dresses, thick black patent belt and bits of fur.
Key Looks: Dark and dramatic use of black wool, black lace, black silk with subtle elegant feminine details more inspired Hollywood glam from the latter half the of 20th century. Tuxedo bibb shirt Her thick black patent belt is her must-have accessory of the season. Waists are either cinched with her belt or raised to support the shape of a high hemline. She resisted the urge to layer, allowing the black and white to work its charm unimpeded. What was missing? Even her fall 2006 collection (which engaged a similar color palette) had a bit of color (yellow) and I was hoping for a surprise in the form of a shade or hue.
