Zac Posen has a lot of celebrity friends (is there any other kind?), and judging by their presence in the front rows, they’ll be snapping up his red-carpet ready gowns and sexy little dresses. Evening is Zac’s specialty, but there were plenty of daytime looks as well, but some of those weren’t quite as spot-on.
Color Palette: Warm pinky beige, silver, celery green, ultra-violet, and of course, lots of black. The raspberry red shoes and bags will probably be popular with real life customers too, especially the satin frame bag. Metallic bronze also made an appearance in the form of a glam pair of t-strap sandals (come on, did you really think that we would get a show without metallics this season?).
Textures and Details: Silk charmeuse and chiffon were the main fabrics, with touches of black fur and deep red patent leather. Hair was sleek, straight and center-parted, and the makeup was simple but icy cool. The seemingly ubiquitous long black gloves were present as well.
Key Looks: The dresses. From sleek black cocktail numbers to many-layered chiffon gowns, there was something for everyone – every starlet, at least. But real women could definitely pull off most of these styles too. Most of the looks had a forties flavor that really appeals to me, especially the belted jackets with big shawl collars. Other shapes included ruffled blouses, high waisted skirts (both narrow and full), swing coats, and fitted sheaths.
Overall Impression: Nothing too groundbreaking here, but most of it was wearable and very chic.
