Fashion Week 2007. Heavy Metals at Cynthia Rowley. Second City Style Fashion Blog.

February 9, 2007 • New York Fashion Week Fall '07

Cynthia Rowley clearly likes things that sparkle, because I don’t think that there was one look on her runway that wasn’t reflective in some way, shape, or form.  All that glitz is probably a little over the top for most women, but taken individually, there were some fun pieces on that rainbow colored runway.

Color Palette: Black, white, gold, deep red, violet, and chartreuse – all metallic or otherwise shiny.

Textures and Details: Every look was paired with glittery black tights, which could be an interesting layering piece next fall.  Short leather gloves, belted waists, and smoky eyes all made appearances, and there was an interesting flame print on one silver minidress.

Key Looks: The strong, squared shoulders and short a-line skirts made me think of the 80s, but the skinny pants and general relaxed attitude were more reminiscent of the 90s.  All the metallics, however, screamed Fall 2007.  Some standouts were a fitted black satin dress with rainbow lacing (chicer than it sounds), a little silver frock with cerulean blue detailing at the shoulders, and a loosely draped black silk charmeuse top paired with a wide-brimmed hat and dark red skinny pants.

Overall Impression: There were quite a few interesting pieces in this fun but possibly difficult to wear collection.
