Perhaps a very appropriate story given the blizzard-like conditions on the East coast and in the Midwest, WWD’s Rosemary Feitelberg asks if the animal rights organization PETA has lost some of their panache. Over the years and the activist group has protested designer’s use of animal fur, slamming celebs, designers, editor and animal skin-wearing passers-by with paint and verbal reminders of the origins of their ensemble-toppers.
However, Feitelberg notes that NY Fashion Week ’07 was filled with both fur-wearing attendees and fall designs. Whether the fur on attendees was real or just a great faux replica can’t be said for sure. However, many designers took the risk and it went by almost completely unnoticed and sans a streak of paint.
