Most of the major trends for next fall were represented at Alessandro Dell’Acqua – but that wasn’t really a good thing – the metallics, chunky ankle boots and Mary Janes, bell sleeves, oversized collars, neoprene puffer jackets, Herve Leger-style bandages, and lingerie touches were just too much to combine in a single show. What did work was the comfy-looking cocoon coats and sheath dresses spliced through with nude chiffon; the shaggy looking fur trim and strange use of girdles (the white girdles were not sexy, just weird). It’s too bad – Alessandro is at his best when he goes for romantic and feminine, not sporty. The beautiful coats and cocktails are bound to be popular though.
