Edgy, sleek, and a little bit tough. Karl Lagerfeld’s fall collection had a masculine vibe that harkened back to the days of eighties power dressing, but done in a much softer manner. There was lots of black and other dark neutrals, but the variety of textures (leather, nubby wool, metallics) kept it from being boring.
The key looks were structured jackets and slim black dresses, all paired with black fishnet stockings. There were also plenty of neon colored fingerless gloves – all the better to show the models’ bright red or pink talons (these were the only colors on the runway). Other highlights were the slightly oversized, plush wool coats and crisp white shirts, along with the tuxedo-inspired looks that Karl’s known for.
