New Social Networking Site: IQONS for the Fashion Industry. Second City Style Fashion Blog

March 6, 2007 • Fashion

Sorta like MySpace, but less skeevy, the recently launched social networking site IQONS is posed to become to ‘go-to’ site for fashion industry professionals looking to do more business-to-business than monkey business. Last month Rafael Jimenez and Suran Goonatilake brought the site to life.

IQONS is a global social network for designers, fashion labels,
magazine editors, photographers, models, stylists, fashion PR professionals, fashion
enthusiasts and lurkers who can now connect and network with each other. In just over a month there are over 820 designers with an online profile.

What I personally like is the ability to network for business. IQONS has a few ways that members can connect and promote their work
through the site. Influential and highly respected fashion industry
professionals, referred to as ‘Iqons’, review and comment on work
showcased by members on the site. IQONS features one Iqon each month and also give members’ 15 minutes of fame’ by spotlighting a member profile every hour. You are also notified by email when an ‘iqonian’ wants you to join their ‘entourage.’
