With the conclusion of AccessoriesTheShow, the Accessorie Circuit and various showrooms last week, one thing shined above the rest…metallic handbags. What else can you expect to see for fall?
Metallic patent leather and exotic skins are still hot for fall and even into the holiday season.
Handbag designer, Sondra Roberts also presented printed patent leather, patent vinyl and embossed exotics in an array of hues. "Metallics are very strong," said Robyn Albaum, the brand’s New York sales manager. "Pewter, bronze and gunmetal shades give the bags more pizzazz."
Albaum also noted fall bags were smaller and lighter, complete with functional compartments and zippers. "Our fall bags are lighter, not as embellished. We have no real hardware or studs this season. Our customers want a great shape first."
It also appears that bags will be more lightweight. apparently I am not the only one tired of lugging heavy leather bags.
Accessories brand Rafe New York is also enjoying its run with metallics. For fall, the line is featuring patent leather handbags in gold and silver, as well as in floral patterns.
Oversize clutches were all over fall runways. Neiman Marcus picked up the shape by brands such as Goldenbleu and Prada. They will also support the season’s muted trend like Tod’s handbag in gray ostrich paired with patent leather bags in teals and plums.
