Alas and Marcus Piggott have captured Scarlett Johansson’s quirky, seductive appeal for Louis Vuitton’s fall/winter 2007 collection. Although there’s an obvious resemblance to Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly I also see a bit of Bardot. Sexy, innocent but somehow still interesting… Although the shots were done with Jacobs was still in rehab, according to WWD he was apparently inspired by her character in Girl with a Pearl Earring. Here’s hoping they stick with this siren and not go the way of the "Duff, Spears and Lohan" circuit….– Joanne Molina for Second City Style

Just call it Scarlett: Part Deux. For her second campaign in a row as
the face of Louis Vuitton, Scarlett Johansson went from playing a
French coquette on a swing to vamping up her movie star status, taking
cues from Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe as she sexily posed for Mert
Alas and Marcus Piggott in Los Angeles in March. While Marc Jacobs, who
was in rehab at the time, did not physically attend the shoot, he
played a pivotal role in re-casting the voluptuous bombshell. Jacobs
has become quite enamored with Johansson, even using her character in Girl With a Pearl Earring
as the basis for his fall/winter collection, which was inspired heavily
by the work of 17th-century Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer. The images,
which will hit magazines in August, naturally focus not just on the
ready-to-wear designs, but on the popular leather goods collection as
well. Each ad features a different vignette, from monogram totes one
month to shearling monogram bags the next.
