to a statement from Burberry, three luxury goods counterfeiters were arrested in
Japan last week for violating the country’s trademark laws. A representative of the Japanese retailer
K.K. Alfa and two others were arrested in Chiba, Japan, following a
raid last year when police seized 50,000 pieces of counterfeit Burberry
goods from the retailer’s head office,
warehouses and shops. The statement, issued last week, said Burberry
had worked closely with the Chiba police force in its investigation of
K.K. Alfa.

"This successful seizure and arrest is excellent news for
Burberry and the luxury goods industry," said Stuart Lockyear, the
company’s director of intellectual property. "Burberry will not
tolerate counterfeiting and will always push for the maximum penalty." Excellent.
