Designer News. 30 New Designers Join CFDA’s Club. Second City Style Fashion Blog

One of Diane von Furstenberg’s goals when taking over the presidency of the Council of
Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) last October, was to increasing
the organization’s membership. She is realizing that goal in a major way.

According to WWD, the CFDA recently had the largest number of applicants in it’s 45-year history. As a result, the board accepted 30 new designers as
members at a meeting on Tuesday, bringing total membership to 319.

And the members are…


Lela Rose & Richard Chai

Women’s Wear:
Richard Chai, Georgina Chapman and
Keren Craig of Marchesa, Tory Burch, Victoria Bartlett of VPL, Rachel
Roy, Phillip Lim for 3.1 Phillip Lim, Lela Rose, Andreas Melbostad for
Phi, Laura Poretzky for Abaeté, Kate and Laura Mulleavy for Rodarte,
Michelle Smith for Milly, Paul Sinclaire for Tevrow+Chase, Wenlan Chia
for Twinkle by Wenlan, Mary Ping, and Jean Yu of Jean Yu design Studio.


Men’s wear:
Keanan Duffy for Slinky Vagabond and Henry Jacobson

The new members will be honored at an invitation-only party at the DVF Studio on July 30.
