Shopping. The Wave of the Future: The Virtual Trunk Show. Second City Style Fashion Blog

July 18, 2007 • Shopping

No need to run to physically go to Neiman Marcus or Saks to be the first women on the block to score new togs from your favorite designers. Not according to Net-a-porter at least.

The mega-lux shopping site held a virtual trunkshow to launch designer Roland
Mouret’s comeback collection, RM. The show went live July 5, just one day after
Mouret’s runway show in Paris. The trunkshow also included complete runway
footage, interviews with hair and makeup artists, shoe designer
Christian Louboutin, and commentary on each look from
Net-a-porter editors.

How did it fair? Within the first four days, customers from
22 countries placed $500,000 worth of preorders from the 42-piece collection and more than 250,000
visitors have viewed the runway video.
