Stepping out in style doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune. Remember: no matter what your budget is, you have a lot of choices (just spot the trend and pick your price point). The concept of high/low dressing basically means you can mix pricey items with those bargain basement steals if you know how to match them correctly. So, from high heels to low flats, here are the hottest deals for shoe-aholics for the upcoming fall season.
Granny Inspired Lace-Up
Marc Jacobs ($800) at Saks Fifth Avenue vs. DV by Dolce Vita ($79.95) at Nordstrom
I’m a fan of the grandma-esque kicks; they are funky and look great with wide-leg pants. Plus, the thicker heels on these pumps alleviate ankle sprains.
Winner: Marc Jacobs — be careful of synthetic materials
Patent Leather Peep-Toe Pump
Hmmm… these shoes look almost exactly alike. However, I love the wide ankle strap, which is a ubiquitous detail this season. And, much like last fall, red is not off of the radar.
Winner: Steve Madden — I’m a sucker for metallic.
Bow Detailed Flat
I’m a flat fanatic, especially when adorned with the feminine bow detail. Both of these boast 100% leather. Classic bow details continue to amaze.
Winner: Gap—this is one good-looking look-alike, and one tenth of the price!
Mary Jane Pump
The Mary Jane is taken to new heights this season—about a 4-inch elevation. These shoes scream vixen, which means I’ll be purchasing a pair this season.
Winner: the Manolo
The bootie gets revamped this season with the lace-up front. This is a nice alternative to the simple black pump, plus these look uber-chic with skinny pants.
Winner: Max Studio—the matte satin takes the prize (I’m kind of over patent leather).
