Celebrity Fashion Smackdown. Who Wore It Better? Second City Style Fashion Blog

Boy, I sure am glad I’m not famous…it’s one thing to pick which actress wore the look better and another to tell you where they went wrong. Our goal is to save us all from fashion faux-pas.

Jessica Alba vs. Jamie-Lynn Sigler in Dolce & Gabbana

Winner: This is a tough one and I give both credit for the ability to wear said corset dress. However, I  am going to have to go with Jamie-Lynn who kept it simple with bare legs. I just can’t get over the bad  legwear choice with this dress on Jessica. Besides, the goal of the dress is to show off your womanly curves and Jessica does not seem to have many.

Vivica A. Fox vs. Jenny McCarthy in Naeem Kahn

Winner: Truth be told I hate this dress. There I said it. Something about all gold just doesn’t work for me in the least. If this dress were silver or gunmetal, I would be singing it’s praises. OK, back to the dress at hand. Jenny McCarthy wins because this dress fits her better. With something so shiny and metallic, it should have a little swing. I also prefer Jenny’s sandal choice which lightens up the dress…ever so slightly.

Christina Ricci vs. Debbie Matenopoulus in a Corey Lynn Calter frock.

Debbie Matenopoulus. Anybody who wears YSL Tribute pumps is a winner in my book. However, she loses a few points for being at a Warner Bros. ‘fashion’ event. I love Ricci, but the girl needs a tan (in a bottle). She is pale beyond belief and I don’t care for the closed pump choice either.

Vanessa Minnillo vs. Minnie Driver in a dress by Catherine Malandrino

Winner: Vanessa Minnillo. In all fairness, one is wearing this dress on a red carpet and the other is running around town. Had Minnie pulled her hair back to show off her great shoulders and had opted for another bag, she would have been the winner.

Kate Beckinsale vs. Debra Messing in Prada

Winner: This is not my favorite dress, but Kate wins. I don’t understand why women who have great shoulders and wear dresses that show them off…wear their hair down. Kate also accessorized the dress with the perfect footwear choice…sandals. The dress needed to be a little more fitted in Debra’s chest region and a silver belt or one in a color that popped against the black dress would have been a better choice.

  1. I’m in total agreement with all your winners and losers especially between Vivica and Jenny. A dress that loud MUST fit well or it’s a big, ugly mess.

  2. Katie says:

I disagree with the winners and looser pick between Jessica Alba vs. Jamie-Lynn Sigler. Jessica has plenty of female curves they are just minimized by the dress color which is better. Besides your reviews are always prejudiced against women who choose to wear sheer leg wear.
