While browsing today’s WWD I read a mention that Ann Taylor’s CFO resigned after 14 years and my first thought was, "does anyone still shop there?" It has been at least 14 years since I bought anything from there (slight exageration). When I first got out of college Ann Taylor was the place to buy a work wardrobe (at least the staples). Especially since my work wardrobe at the time was non-existent.
I even worked at Ann Taylor while getting my master’s degree and it was at that time I noticed the quality rapidly going downhill. James M. Smith’s resignation came one day after the retailer announced
weaker-than-expected July comps, hurt by light traffic and fashion
blunders at the company’s more casual Ann Taylor Loft stores.
