In an article in today’s Page Six (of the NY Post) they report that Fashion Week’s organizers are perplexed and scrambling to line up A-list Celebs for the front rows.
Some blame the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas and the Emmy Awards in
Los Angeles, which happen the same week.

Leslie Stevens,
co-founder of publicity firm LaForce + Stevens, says it’s too early to
declare defeat: "We are producing seven shows, and we haven’t started
to go in full force yet."

Stars were scarce at the shows last February, leaving paparazzi to settle for the likes of Tinsley Mortimer, Lauren Bush and Vanessa Minnillo. Such front-row regulars as Sarah Jessica Parker and Scarlett Johansson steered clear. Can you blame them?

Howard Stern’s fiance at Luca Luca . Whohoo!

I for one am thrilled that the shows can be ABOUT FASHION, which stupid me, thought they were about. Tripping over the stage as you try to avoid the hoards of photographers trying to catch a shot of actresses I don’t recognize (Amber Tamblyn?) is annoying not to mention dangerous. What most of these celebs know about fashion still remains a mystery.

Another theory for the shortfall of bona fide stars is that designers
are fed up with dealing with demanding Hollywood types, who then
distract attention away from the collections to themselves. "It’s
similar to what happened with the supermodels of the ’80s," said an
industry insider. "They became more famous than the designers. The
designers put a stop to it. The whole idea is to sell clothes."

Ya think?
