Andra Naylor for Second City Style Magazine
When I opened an email from the editors at Second City Style,
telling me I was IN for New York Fashion Week, I stood up at my desk,
threw my hands in the air and cried, “I’m going to Bryant Park!”
I was ecstatic, in disbelief and ridiculously excited all at the
same time. I imagined myself taking a seat inside the great white
tents, rubbing elbows with international models (not that I would be
anywhere near that height) and gasp – catching a glimpse of the
infamous Anna Wintour. Gradually though, my daydream gave way to a nagging thought – more than persistent, it was terrifying: what was I going to wear?!?!
I would be attending three full days of shows, plus an unspecified number of fashion-related events. What would I wear during the day? What would I wear at night? How would I get it all packed?
I tried to calm myself, mentally flipping through the clothes in my
closet and designating, yes, no, no, yes, maybe…but it was no good…I
could feel myself losing all fashion confidence.
