Two years ago as a staffer for a fab celeb fashion glossy, I remember gazing admirably at the writer who wore the $735 black patent Christian Louboutin Bruges heels to work. Those platform cork pumps, with their black patent leather finish and red leather soles, had caught my eye for some time as I remembered identifying them on stars like Jessica Simpson, Mary-Kate Olsen, Nicole Richie. My fellow writer had taken a cue from those chic A-listers and so had I. Since then, I’ve been tracking down the latest celeb haute trends. These mega personalities (and their stylists) certainly have a knack for choosing trendy threads and we all immediately follow, Prada wallets and Chloe Paddington bags in tow.
This year is no different. As fall rears its polished head, these celebs are out in full force flaunting fierce frocks, captivating coats, and mega-watt merchandise.
Here are some of the top celeb haute trends to try:
The Celeb “It Bag
Back in the day, Balenciaga Motorcycle bags were big and celebs were never without their ultra luxurious Fendi Spy bags. When a superstar finds their top tote, they love to show it off again and again and again. Rachel Bilson sported her structured black Zac Posen Abbey satchel all around town. Cameron Diaz pairs her patent yellow leather Marni balloon bag to denim and bright whites to make her outfits pop. Flaunt your own “Itâ€? bag for Fall when you’re out and about and you’ll ultimately feel like your favorite celeb.
Victoria Beckham never leaves home without ‘em! This glamour queen has been seen blocking out the sun (and those pesky photographers) in Dior Glossy shades, Louis Vuitton Millionaire sunglasses, and of course, her very own statement-y tortoise frames—part of her new DVB sunglasses collection launched at Harrods, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Henri Bendel. To look the fabulous fashionista part, try sophisticated Miu Miu Chantelles with the polka-dot handles (a Paris Hilton fave) or sporty white Francis B sunnies by Juicy Couture (Rosario Dawson is a fan.)
Graphic print dresses were everywhere this summer. Jessica Alba rocked her sexy shift with black leggings and chunky T-strap platforms. Eva Longoria shined in an eye-poppin A/X cobalt blue design. Hilary was a ray of sunshine in her bright yellow and white polka-dot Corey Lynn Calter roll neck halter dress. Katharine McPhee hit a high note in a graphic Nieves Lavi number at a recent MTV appearance. The weather’s getting cooler, but these dresses aren’t going anywhere yet. Just throw a black coat or a wool bolero over a splashy printed frock like Jessica Biel in her Giambattista Valli sheath and you’re good to go!
Can I really wear Keira Knightley’s style without breaking the bank? Yes! Keira is a big fan of tres chic trendsetter Kate Moss’s newest label Topshop, with hipster cool pieces at amazing bargain prices. She’s already been seen strolling in two different comfy Topshop sundresses. Keira’s not the only bargain beauty. Sarah Jessica Parker recently boasted she wore a belt from her glam new clothing line Bitten for discount shop Steve & Barry’s to a high-fashion event. Who’s the queen of cheap chic? Kate Bosworth! She’s been photographed in a Libertine for Target tunic and — you guessed it — a graphic mod Topshop dress. Maybe you can’t afford designer duds, but you can still pull off a star’s retro chic wardrobe.
Couture is all over the menswear vest trend (Christian Dior, Armani, and Paul Smith lines are all adding pieces this fall)…and so are our favorite celebs! We’ve already seen Katie Holmes pairing her front-tie gray one with J Brand jeans and a white bag for a cosmopolitan look. Kate Hudson wore a sleek white Mason vest with a black pendant necklace and jeans but no blouse underneath. You can wear it over a long-sleeved shirt for fall. British fashion icons Sienna Miller and Kate Beckinsale have even veered off the beaten path. Kate paired her black turtleneck with a cropped fur caveman-style vest, while Sienna has rocked sequins, plaid, and denim.
