has accused Iconix of infringing on their signature check design. for the lining of London Fog’s trenchcoats and scarves. Apparently the check pattern is "nearly identical" to Burberry’s own.
strongly disagree with Burberry’s claims and will be responding
accordingly," an Iconix spokesman told WWD. "London Fog is an iconic
brand with a rich heritage of its own dating back to the 1920s. Plaid
designs have been a common element of London Fog products for years."
purchased London Fog out of bankruptcy about a year ago. Burberry contends Iconix, "intended to trade on
Burberry’s advertising, its product selection and its trademarks, and to
reap immediately the benefits that Burberry established over many
years," according to the complaint.
