Elie Tahari hosted an informal walk-through at a showroom near Bryant Park. The
white space was transformed into grassy vignettes, and his garden-party
perfect collection made me want to fast-forward to next spring. A colorful
departure from other collection’s muted palettes, Tahari showed short day
dresses, long, fluid looks and strong accessories.
Palette: Desert sunset hues of sandy brown and sky blue, along with buttercup
yellow and sporty navy. Accessories packed a punch in dusty metallics of burnt
orange, slate and silver.
& Details: Airy silks with woven edges, soft leather with laser-cut
detailing and gauzy cotton. Macrame, textured trimmings and beaded
embellishment. Ostrich and shiny leather structured handbags, along with
practical soft purses with nautical rope straps. The jewelery was bold and
bright, woven and jeweled.
Key Looks: A
soft yellow gown perfect for lounging, a poppy ombre floor-grazing confection
with wood bead detail on the straps, and a paisley caftan with linen shorts and
brown eyelet jacket.
