NY Fashion Week Spring ’08. Lela Rose Draws Matisse’s Green Line. Second City Style Fashion Blog

September 6, 2007 • New York Fashion Week Spring '08

Summary: I have come to expect Lela Rose to deliver ‘pretty’ and she did not disappoint. However, as I normally think of Lela Rose as flirty and light, this collection was grown up and light, but no worries…in a good way. Inspired by Matisse, the designer experimented with bold color and mixed textures such as ivory pinwheel lace and corded lace over ginger colored gowns for an alluring effect. Who knew a color like bottle green could be so lustrous and beautiful?

Color Palette: ivory, kuba, marine navy, pollen (yellow), silver, gold, ginger, persimmon, black, gold, peacock, bottle green, dungaree blue, tomato red and dove.

Textures & Details: double face cotton, burlap linen, sateen voile, burnout detail, poplin, laundered taffeta, sack cloth, twill, satin, organza, jacquard, guipure lace and corded lace, Lela Rose for Payless shoes, belts and bags.

Key Looks: Pollen double face cotton puff-sleeve jacket, silver medallion tank with marine pebbled stretch knicker;  ivory and marine color blocked dress with scallop detail; bottle green taffeta anorak dress with belt; silver dot short sleeve bomber jacket with ivory cotton canvas knickers; cotton strip strapless dress with marine paisley motif embroidery; peacock laundered taffeta scalloped strapless dress and a bottle green organza dress with scalloped hem and neckline embroidery.
