New York Fashion Week Spring ’08. Cynthia Rowley Reigns As Kitschy Queen. Second City Style Fashion Blog.

September 8, 2007 • New York Fashion Week Spring '08

Summary: Cynthia Rowley’s playful execution never fails to impress. Through a wide range of looks, her Spring ’08 collection, “Le Sportif”, perfectly imitated the art of French casual. Held at Gotham Hall, attending fashionistas snacked on Garretts popcorn (Chicago’s finest) and bopped along to the girly music. Rowley saved the best for last, closing the show with the models hopping on old-school bicycles to make their exit, followed by the designer herself.

Color Palette: A Neapolitan delight consisting of navy, ivory, camel, strawberry, pistachio and pink.

Textures & Details: Rowley kept it simple with perforated silk, silk pique, silk twill, cashmere and cotton sateen.
She showed v-necks, sweater vests, trousers, slouchy pockets, tunics, tennis frocks, ruching, cardigans, party chains, scarves and my favorite, the enamelled neck bangles (which came from Ebay!). They remind me of the paper chain necklaces from grade school – they were fun to make then, and certainly fun to wear now!

Key Looks:
Leisurely silk dresses, collegiate cardigans and quirky details like bicycle motifs and ringlet fringe.
