This is the collection I expected to see from Vera Wang. Instead, it was Doo.Ri who really hit the mark on what beauty will look like in Spring ’08. Muted tones of pink, cream, taupe and even black and white were the palette for delicate gemstone and sequin details. High hemlines still blended into the uber-femme collection that even managed to include the bubble skirt from a couple seasons ago and like her contemporaries she veered from adopting a single length and treated each garment as a single piece meriting its own story. Necklines are generally high or angle gently off the shoulder while just the right amount of draping allows the shimmering and delicate fabric to cascade in all the right directions.
Doo.Ri is exactly what I’ve been searching for as of late: a collection classically inspired that manages to tell its own tale.
