NY Fashion Week Spring ’08. Twinkle Grows Up. Second City Style Fashion Blog

September 9, 2007 • New York Fashion Week Spring '08

Summary: Wenlan Chia’s Spring ’08 collection was more sophisticated (read wearable) than we have come to expect…and that’s a good thing. Normally known for cute and quirky knits, this collection drew inspiration from the ‘drama of seascapes  and the beauty of nature to the razor sharp edge of graphic prints.’ There were knits, but what really captured our attention were the non-knit items like her chiffon and charmeuse gown with a bra-top and racer-back bodice, her white coat with a huge asymmetrical collar and her show-stopping 30’s inspired Chandelier print in silk charmeuse.

Color Palette: white, canary, pink, lavender, blue, grey, ash, cocoa, silver and black. Candy Floss Print, Wallpaper Print, Chandelier Print, Abyss Print, Picasso Print.

Textures & Details: silk cotton, silk charmeuse, silk, chiffon, georgette, jersey, knit, cashmere, hammered silk, origami straps, back details, bubble hem, slouchy trousers, cropped jackets, chunky bracelets, patent belts

Key Looks: silk charmeuse dark blue Abyss print bubble dress; white wide collar coat; silk charmeuse cotton blue Candy Floss print shirt, blue pleated shorts; silver one-shoulder knotted dress; silk chiffon crystal Chandelier print knotted back dress; hammered silk vanilla origami dress; black and silver knotted up halter bubble top with crinkled grey slouchy pants.
