Ever since the spunky and stylish show Sex and the City hit the scene, Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha have triggered a major fashion frenzy. From Charlotte’s regal refinery and Samantha’s chic come-hither vibe to Carrie’s whimsy wardrobe and Miranda’s signature suits the show’s characters have influenced many fashion circles and best-dressed lists across the world. The style of the statement making “It” girls of New York has also sparked the career of many a fashion designer — most notably Patricia Field, who has shopped the collections, couture shows and thrift shops for the latest luxe looks for her ladies.

Luckily, you don’t need Patricia Field and a team of designers to complete your SATC look. Want to piece together a winning ensemble like your favorite “It” city girl? Grab some mismatched accessories, slip on your Manolo Blahniks, and hit the road for some fab finds. Here’s how to get started:

Charlotte: Good Girl Getup
Park Avenue princess Charlotte York’s polished pieces are perfectly tailored and ladylike. She opts for well-cut trousers, classic wool pencil skirts, ruffled femme blouses, and occasionally dresses up in classic ball gowns or frou-frou tulle dresses. Understated and pulled together pieces like cashmere cardigans, circle skirts, and luxe argyle sweaters is what debutante Charlotte York craves and good grooming is essential to her classic demure look. Bows, bags, and brands are key.

If you want to look classically cool and rapaciously romantic like Elizabeth Taylor aficionado Charlotte York, choose styles from world-renowned designers like Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs. Make sure to the find the perfectly proper peep-toes and quilted Chanel handbag to match.

Michael Kors Runway Fur Collar Wool Coat $4,195
Marc Jacobs Collection Quilted Elastic Stam $1,695

Miranda: Menswear Femme
When we saw Miranda in that black and white Maggy London printed silk shift ($148, Nordstrom), from SATC filming, our hearts skipped a beat. Was this ferociously formal corporate chick suddenly flaunting flirty frocks? Where was the slightly bitter menswear-inspired Miranda we knew and loved? Lucky for us, she never left. Normally, Miranda is known for an androgynous career-oriented corporate suit style on a boyish frame and she doesn’t disappoint. There’s no frou-frou on this pared down, tough-minded corporate queen and she’s often seen in those straightforward pinstripe blazers, tailored trousers, and button-down business wear with just a hint of sexiness thrown in during evening events with the girls. But it seems baby Brady slightly softened her masculine style and soon she was seen in less conservative clothing with just a hint of sexiness thrown in (see Maggy London Dress.)

Find that ultimate corporate darling meets understated sexy maven in you by pairing powerful Miranda pieces.

Samantha: Sexy Siren
Samantha is charismatic, captivating, confident — and if you didn’t get that from her statement-y wardrobe, she’ll be sure to let you know it! This sultry sex-kitten walks to the beat of her own wild drum with swanky and sometimes shocking pieces that focus all eyes on her. Even if we aren’t watching her, some sexy serial male sensation is as she slowly slides off that sexy couture slip and matching G-string. (Signature Oscar de la Renta, of course!)

Be the attention-grabbing hit of any party with a bold dress and sweet stilettos. Make sure to throw a satin negligee in your overnight tote, you’ll never know when you’ll be needing it!

Carrie: Over-the-Top

What would Sex and the City be without whimsical romantic Carrie, the flirty, free-spirited, forever changing individualistic glamazon? She may not shine in the rock-solid relationship department, but this trendsetter proves in fashionable fur, mismatched mod print dresses, and sky-high stilettos, she is the style savvy star of the show.

If you can carry a cocktail that matches your corsage or rock Blahniks at your favorite local bakery, then Carrie’s cool style is just for you. Rock this season’s toughest trends: Metallics mixed with fancy florals, Chanel feathers, or silvery sequins.

• Be a trendsetter
• Spend, spend, spend!
