My apologies to Jim Morrison, I’m not an LA kind of woman. I’m not exactly sure what that means but nevertheless it still sounds like an accurate description. But I’m also not an ignorant snob, which means that I won’t rule out a collection just because it’s not coming down a runway in NYC, London, Paris or Milan (or Berlin).
That being said I am still staring at Bird of Prey’s Spring ’08 collection and asking myself how someone who isn’t reminiscing about the Lost Boys would be interested in this collection. While I love the palette (the muted plums, black white and bits of shine) I don’t see a cohesive narrative or even a single garment that speaks to the body in a nuanced or classic way. Nor do a see a commentary or a clear voice about anything– all of which leads me to ask what the point of this collection might be…. but maybe that’s just LA– Joanne Molina, Senior Editor
