Celebrity Fashion Smackdown. Who Wore It Best? Chanel Edition. Second City Style Fashion Blog.

October 31, 2007 • Celebrity Style

Who could forget the so-called “fashion tragedy when preppy
princess Reese Witherspoon wore what her people SAID was a vintage white and
silver Chanel dress to the 2006 Golden Globes—the same frock worn by fellow movie
star Kirsten Dunst just 3 years earlier—to a Golden Globes after party no less!

But regardless of that great fashionista mishap, this
classic couture label has the timeless elegance to be “recycled” over and over

See how past A-listers have glamified their gowns as Second
City Style picks which star wore Chanel best.

Lily Allen vs. Kate Beckinsale

Winner: Glamour puss Kate! Both girls wore the Spring 2006
black and white 50s style prom dress well and we give props to funky pop star
Lily for going strapless—but is Lily the kind of girl who can be seen in such a
high class label? In September, the songbird was kicked out of the GQ Men of the Year Awards in September for
appearing drunk and rambling during Madonna’s presentation. And what was she wearing to the same awards
show just a year earlier? Chanel!!

Fergie vs. Natalie Imbruglia

Winner: Fergie! We love the way she cinches her already way tiny waist with
a thick leather belt and we love those two tone shoes—so this season! Natalie’s
bob looks cute, accentuating the silver and black Chanel dress from the Spring 2007 collection, but girl, those green sandals have got to go!

Eva Longoria vs. Lindsay Lohan

Winner: Lindsay Lohan. We’re not always so fond of Lindsay wearing Chanel—she’s another one of those girls that stirs up trouble and still wears the label—but when she wears the brand she layers it well. Plus, we’re not too fond of Eva’s pink choice for this Spring 2007, her frilly, embellished neckline, the bawdy jewelry, or the fact that she wore the too short minidress to her own civil service! What an haute bride!
