The weather outside is frightful…but celeb fashionistas are keeping away the cold in style with classy coats, mod shoes, bright scarves, and trendy sweaters. Second City Style takes a look at what celebrities are sporting to keep fashionably warm in winter.

The Burberry Trench
What’s a winter without a comfy coat? Celebs are stepping out in some of the finest ones around. Though we can only remember Burberry-trench wearing Audrey Hepburn in the movies, A-listers are looking to relive the “good old days” of classic Old Hollywood glam with a new mod kick. Heroes’ Ali Larter recently vamped up her style in a tough meets sweet Burberry leather trench. Another Heroes star, Hayden Panettiere, wore her belted khaki Windsor version in London. Perhaps they’re following in the footsteps of iconic Burberry model Kate Moss, who appeared in a white lace trench coat in the label’s main Autumn/Winter 2006-2007 campaign.

Want your own? Hayden’s $1175 trench may be sold out, but you’ll look just as cute in a sand-washed gabardine double-breasted one with black button fastenings and that iconic plaid inner lining. A Burberry trench is a winter wardrobe staple. Get your’s!

They may not be as warm as a wool overcoat, but they sure are in style! Opt for this season’s hottest shoes in a variety of styles, patterns, and colors. Flaunt your inner diva with a femme dress and killer black “heels” like Tyra Banks did at Conde Nast’s Fashion Rocks event. Channel city girl prepster chic with lace-up oxford booties like Sarah Jessica Parker on the set of the Sex and the City movie. Make sure to pick out ultra-shiny patent oxfords for your next style party. Gwen Stefani loves to wear hers with her menswear-inspired wardrobe.

Jessica Simpson loves being all wrapped up in humongous sweaters, even in the 74 degree heat, reported by US Weekly on September 14, the day she wore a baggy green turtleneck while out shopping. Did you catch Gossip Girl Blake Lively in an oversize knit by Iceberg paired with Stella McCartney skinny jeans at the world premiere of Wintuk Cirque Du Soleil? Katherine Heigl recently bundled herself up in a striped Juicy Couture sweater coat. In the icy chill of winter, cozy sweaters are a must and stars aren’t afraid to trade style for comfort. But why not have both? Kate Bosworth shows us it can be done with a comfortable yellow cashmere V-neck sweater from Gap’s Holiday 2007 collection. Cheap, but so chic!

Kate Bosworth may have worn a chic yellow sweater, but the Gap’s red ruffle scarf she paired with it was equally as chic — and it still beat the chill! Scarves may be an obvious winter essential, but the colors and prints of today’s types are totally eye-catching. Sienna Miller walked on the wild side with her leopard-print scarf. Jessica Alba wrapped up in a multicolored honeycomb scarf from Tolani. Back in January, Ashlee Simpson wore a colorful neck wrap to LA hotspot Teddy’s, but the two-toned scarf she recently wore to NYC club Stereo’s 2nd Anniversary party, is more her style. Especially since it goes with boyfriend Pete Wentz’s striped cap. How cute!
