It’s the holiday season and for all of us that means luxury gift
giving, bundling up in our favorite cashmere scarves, and of course,
lavish holiday affairs filled with gourmet hors d’overs, premium wine,
and extravagant decorations. But what my favorite part of a glam
holiday party? I’ll give you a hint — it’s not sneaking my guy under
the mistletoe for a kiss! (I’m Jewish anyway!)

It has to be shopping for that perfectly plush cocktail dress! Where
is the best place to start looking? Among the celebs of course! Those
A-list superstars are constantly attending black-tie galas, charity
events, and formal dinners flaunting their most ferocious frocks and
elegant ensembles in everything from Cavalli’s stark animal print to
Valentino’s luscious red evening dresses…

Take a cue from celeb dress trends and finding that scintillating
sheath for your next big bash. Here are five party dress looks to put
you on the right track so you can live it up Hollywood style at your
next holiday bash and look good doing it too!

Bold Colors & Geometric Prints
This winter, its time to stop thinking frigid and start thinking funky!
Black and gray is elegant but overdone and if you really want to cause
a stir, do it up like Hilary Duff did when she wore a bright squiggle print empire-waist dress
to the MuchMusic Awards in Canada. Make a statement like singer JoJo
during Fashion Week in a funky multicolored Heatherette design or
Victoria Beckham in a bright black and green Oscar de la Renta get up.

Do: Get Daring! Black and White is Blase. Liven Your Look
with a geometric print in a multitude of colors or brighten up in a
solid color—as long as its green, red, blue, or yellow.
Don’t: Wear Mismatched Prints. Stripes and Polka Dots Don’t Look
Good Together. Neither Do Zig Zag Red and White Prints with Black and
White Striped Shoes! (Maybe Paris Hilton can do it, but you can’t!)
Try: Theory Azuri Silk Chiffon Dress $455 saksfifthavenue.
