How to stay fashionably inspired during the big chill.
I’m a warm-weather girl. Which means I got sick of Chicago’s cold
temperatures about a week ago. Sure, I’m still loving pairing opaque
tights with my boot collection, but I’m needing a pick-me up already.
Lucky for me, designers have just begun releasing their pre-fall
collections. While many in the industry find fashion’s two seasons
ahead cycle purely crazy, I look at it as a welcome style forecast.
There’s still a good four months of cold weather ahead for many
northernly located fashionistas, so I thought it would be beneficial to
take a peak at the trends that will hit the racks next time it gets
cold. This way you can get a head start on what to keep, what to put
away for now and what to continue snapping up for right now. It’s a
great way to stay fresh and not get worn out by the cold weather.
When in London…
Especially inspiring was Karl Lagerfeld’s pre-fall line for Chanel,
which was previewed during a lavish two-day party in London. Featuring
a British edginess, Lagerfeld showed spectacularly layered looks that
played with volume, proportion and fabrics. This season, I’ll follow
Chanel’s cue and look for rough edges, cashmere knits and chiffon
details, and hopefully, find the right way to throw it all together.
Right here, right now: Pair a V-neck knit top or a sweater vest with a ’70s-inspired tie-neck chiffon blouse.See the Top Ten Summer 2016 Trends for Women Over 40
