A fabulous couple relaxing before the show

The Second City Style attendees (Bonnie, Rachel & Emilie)

For those who braved the bitter Chicago weather Thursday night to attend Scoop NYC’s “20 Looks” Fashion Show, presented by Lumen night club and Veuve Clicquot champagne, may have been filled with a longing, but not necessarily for the clothes.

While the delicious bubbly flowed and Chicago’s fashion elite mingled, models garbed in designer resort wear walked the runway.  The vibrant colors and Pucci-esque swirling prints were on everything from beach cover-ups to loose flowing dresses and tops and yes, even one pink fedora. The ambiance of the show was definitely Mediterranean in spirit and made at least one attendee wistful for a mid-winter jaunt to the Greek Isles. Since most of the garments shown were for those lucky enough to be headed somewhere tropical, the rest of us could only wish for warm weather and watch for transitional pieces. A favorite among the Second City Style girls was most certainly the sequined racer back tack in gold paired with white jeans, while the ultra skimpy khaki shorts had us questioning: “Shorts! Still?”

Even though the clothing wasn’t inspiring enough to drive me to Scoop to stock-up for the summer months (or a pretend vacation), the accessories were. From waist hugging belts accented with stunning hardware and scarves made up of an abundance of luxurious gauzy fabrics, it will certainly be the accent pieces that will drive this shopper to shop.  And for those of us who spent frivolously on gold jewelry and mini dresses – breath easy, they’ll still be in for another season!
