February 1, 2008 • New York Fashion Week Fall '08

Summary: An ex-pat of Oscar de La Renta, Bill Blass and Kai Milla, Rubin Stinger debuted at New York Fashion week a year ago. With training like that, how can he go wrong? This time the Russian’s 42 piece collection went German. His influence? Fritz Lang’s 1927 sci-fi film  "Metropolis" from 1927. It’s a story of a city that runs on the "Heart
Machine," which is created by love of a young maiden who is captured
and turned into a robot. This "Maschinen Mensch" fuels the city’€™s
light and its love.
You could see the influences of German Expressionism, robots and class struggle in the 20’s flapper construction and short Katie Holmes style short hair.
