Second City Style, Papierdoll Magazine, in conjuction with Style Salon and Projekt NYC is launching a series of events celebrating design in New York. The "Meet the Designer" series highlights top emerging fashion, art, and design talents in and around the States, and "will allow the press and public to get face-to-face with emerging design talent," Michelle Bell, editor-in-chief of Papierdoll, says.
The first event of the series is Wednesday, February 6 and will focus on emerging fashion designer Jedda-Kahn. The installation show will take place around the Hotel QT’s acclaimed swimming pool room located near Times Square and the epicenter of fashion week, Bryant Park.
Since showing his first Spring collection in 2005, Kahn has held various fashion shows around New York City and this season will unveil his breakout Fall 2008 collection to an audience including press, design peers, and celebrities. Bell notes, "They will not only experience the clothes, but they will get the opportunity to talk to the designer and understand the thought process involved in putting a fall collection together."
Lauren Dimet Waters, editor-in-chief of Second City Style states, "Emerging designers, artists, and photographers are the lifeblood of their respective field. Without their works, advancement in the arts ceases to exist. They create the definitive works that are studied, examined and appreciated for years to come. This series of events is meant to shine the spotlight on their works and contributions."
Sponsors for this event are: Philips, Make Up Forever, Solerra Sunless Tanning Mitts, Rusk, The Body Shop and Nuvo.
